ART AS AN URGENT NEED FOR THE YOUTH: AN EXPERIENCE WITH SCULPTURAL LANGUAGE AIMED AT YOUNG PEOPLE FROM A REHABILITATION CENTER IN THE PERIPHERAL AREA OF LEÓN/GUANAJUATO/MÉXICO.
Abstract
This article addresses the problems of art education in Mexico and its limited educational offerings for informal settings, as well as the need for training mediators and teachers qualified to teach in art. It also emphasizes the need to implement art workshops that contribute to developing the sensitivity of the most disadvantaged youth in the city of León, Guanajuato. Thus, LEP A - Laboratory of Artistic Expression and Production - was born as a work methodology adapted to informal settings, fostering the creation of educational spaces for art. Initially, it focused on teaching sculptural language to young people in a rehabilitation center located on the outskirts of León, Guanajuato, Mexico. Therefore, we are interested in presenting some of the achievements made in the implementation of LEP A, which sought to foster expression, critical-sensitive thinking, and creation among a group of young people between the ages of 10 and 26. This document presents the theoretical and methodological foundations and preliminary results of the pilot project.
